Successful Charity Event raises funds and spirits

Kings Road, London – On a warm evening in June, the Screw Cancer Charity hosted an evening at the renowned William Yeoward store in the Kings Road – the creative home of the charity’s founder. Attended by friends from the design community, the gathering was an opportunity to update everyone on the progress made to date with the development of “The Cancer App” and its vital work in supporting patients diagnosed with cancer.

One of the key highlights of the evening was undoubtedly Michael Nicholson and his band “Grand Union Connection” who delivered an uplifting performance. The talented musicians treated the audience to an array of songs including a heartfelt rendition of the piece which Michael wrote especially for William to celebrate his work with Screw Cancer.

Colin Orchard took the opportunity, on behalf of the trustees, to thank everyone who attended. He reminded everyone of William’s vision which gave birth to The Cancer App – the need for a modern solution where you could gather together all the information that is relevant to a patient at a time when they are experiencing fear and confusion. William felt that replacing confusion with clarity helped to bring understanding which was vital when dealing with the challenges of living with cancer.

Colin went on to thank all those who had supported William and continue to support the Screw Cancer team. He was especially grateful to Linda Knight and the team at Interactive Pharma Solutions, who turned William’s vision into reality and have created and built the app, adding support for 24 different cancer types to date, along with a suite of useful tools to help manage each cancer patient’s treatment pathway. He went on to say that the recently gained NHS approval for the app was testament to William’s vision and the support of everyone who made it possible.

No charity event would be complete without a raffle and this one was no exception with beautiful pieces of William Yeoward Crystal and other suitably stylish pieces on offer. Guests also had the opportunity to browse and purchase from the store with William Yeoward Furniture generously donating a portion of each sale to Screw Cancer.

The trustees were delighted to have the opportunity to meet up again with so many loyal supporters. “We are overwhelmed by the generosity and love we have received. It has been a fabulous opportunity to tell everyone about the progress that we have made and the funds raised tonight will enable us to continue our mission of supporting cancer patients and their families. We are so grateful to everyone who made this such a happy evening and a resounding success”.
